Cardboard Friend

Cardboard Friend! Create an easy DIY friend for baby with a marker, cardboard, hot glue and yarn. This was so easy to make and Norah keeps coming back to it! This is great for any baby grabbing with their hands and up, the yarn is a nice texture for baby to feel.

On a piece of cardboard, draw a face—it can be simple, eyes a nose and mouth, within a circle. 👀 Cut yarn pieces that are about 12 inches long, and begin by bunching the yarn together, twisting the middle of the yarn. Hot glue the middle of the yarn to the top of the circle (the top of the “head”). Place a few more dots around the face, and glue the yarn down so that the hair goes around the face. Add hot glue as needed, leaving the last several inches loose, not glued down, so that it looks like long hair.
The yarn I used had strands that I separated, so it looked wavy. But this yarn did shed a lot, so normal yarn would be a better choice.
During tummy time, place the cardboard face in front of baby so that she can feel the hair. ✋🏼 Point out and name the eyes, nose, mouth and hair to baby. For older babies, ask them to brush the hair or point to the eyes. .
