Exercise ball tummy time! Make tummy time less miserable and teach baby how to roll all at once!! I love this idea, and used it quite a bit when my baby was around 3 months old, she doesn’t love it as much any more now that she is 9 months, but I still break out the exercise ball for bouncing sometimes!

If you have an exercise or therapy ball break it out and lay baby on her tummy on the ball. You can find the exercise ball I use below. With a very secure hold around her chest, gently roll her side to side and front to back, paying attention to her head and neck to make sure they are secure.

Start out behind her and away from any corners or sharp objects, and as she gets used to it, if you are comfortable you can move in front of her so she can see you! Slowly work up to more time on the ball each session. This will also get her used to a rolling sensation which could help her learn to roll faster!

Bouncing with baby on the ball can be a great way to calm her down as well. I liked to do this activity with Norah while singing a song like “Wheels on the Bus”, I changed the way I moved her based on the verse I was singing (i.e. “the wheels on the bus go round and round”—roll her around, “the people on the bus go up and down”—bounce her gently). Doing this added another learning element—singing is great for language development, learning rhythm, rhyme, and new vocabulary.

I first saw this idea on mamaot.com—she has some great information you should check out!
